✨Gion Shirakawa (Kyoto)✨
If you want to experience the Kyoto-like atmosphere, then you should visit here first❗️😊
The area known as Gion Shirakawa is located on the eastern side of Shijo-dori and faces the Shirakawa River, designated as a traditional building preservation district, it is the most quintessential Kyoto neighborhood where you can experience the traditional atmosphere of the city.
Rows of machiya (traditional townhouses) line the streets, the Shirakawa River flows, and stone-paved paths continue. You may catch a glimpse of maiko (apprentice geisha), making it the best spot to enjoy the charm of Kyoto. The cherry blossom illumination in spring is truly spectacular.
Though there are only about 40 cherry blossom trees, the setting along the Shirakawa River, the lights of the ryotei (traditional Japanese restaurants), the presence of the Tazimi Shrine, and the Tsubaki Bridge allow you to enjoy the atmosphere of Kyoto from everything here, making it a special place. Often, it is chosen as the setting for TV dramas and other media depicting Kyoto📺
🌸Highlights of the cherry blossom season🌸
In spring, along the Shirakawa River where ryotei and other establishments stand, cherry blossom trees such as Somei Yoshino line the banks.
The illuminated night cherry blossoms are a must-see‼️
