There is an open-air bath where monkeys soaked in hot spring water for the first time in the world, and monkeys come to the hot spring not only in winter but also from spring to fall. The three most famous festivals in Japan and the most fun Gujo Odori dance where anyone can participate, sweat, and dance together.
The Gujo Odori dance is registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage.
The Bon Odori Festival is held from mid-July to early September and lasts for more than 30 nights. It is the longest-running Bon Odori in Japan and is usually held from 8:00 to 10:30 on weekdays and Sundays, and from 8:00 to 11:00 on Saturdays.
The climax of the festival is an all-night dance held on August 13, 14, 15, and 16.
