🏯✨Hikone Castle ✨🏯
The beauty of cherry blossoms combined with the magnificent Hikone Castle’s 400 year old structure touches the hearts of people 😊🌸
The main tower of Hikone Castle is composed of three layers of roofs.
Various types of gables such as ‘kirizuma-hafu’, ‘irimoya-hafu’, and ‘karahafu’ are arranged, emphasizing the exterior with ‘katou-mado’ windows on the second and third floors, and a ‘mawari-en’ with tall handrails on the third floor, presenting a beautiful and varied appearance.
It is said to have been relocated from Otsu Castle and designated as a national treasure in 1952, not only for its beauty as a political symbol but also for its military excellence as a castle.
Apart from Hikone Castle, the national treasure main towers include Himeji Castle, Matsumoto Castle, Inuyama Castle, and Matsue Castle.
🐱If you are lucky, you can meet “Hikonyan” (ひこにゃん) is the samurai cat mascot of Hikone City created by the city government of Hikone, Japan 😊
